Last night my sister, Stacey, and I got her retired mare Foxfire out for a shoot at sunset. Foxy already has a lot of her winter coat, so we just wanted to play with light and get some artsy shots that didn't draw attention to the fact she's really fuzzy! Here's some of our results. As usual...a ton of fun!
The catch-up continues. The Airline History Museum held their fall hangar dance on October 11th. This dance was roughly double the size of the spring dance! It is getting wildly popular, and I can't get over how many people get totally into the evening and dress up in 1940s/WWII-era regalia.
Here are some highlights!
Jim and I made the trip up to Blakesburg, Iowa Labor Day weekend (told you I was behind!) with the 1947 Cessna 120 to the annual National Antique Aircraft Association Fly-In. This is the largest fly-in of its kind and well over 300 aircraft from all over the nation were in attendance. This was an aviation photographer's dream. Some of these planes are so rare there are only a handful still flying. Rather than trying to come up with words to describe the event, I'll let the pictures below tell the story. Jim and I pitched a tent and stayed one night....plan is to stay for two next year.

It has been a busy summer for me. My photography business has been much more successful than I ever anticipated. This was to be a season of gaining experience - and did I ever. I never thought I'd shoot a few horse shows and such, but the stars aligned and I do thank everyone for the opportunities I've had this year. I can't wait to see what next year has in store.
I finally have time to catch my blog up. There will be a lot of posts in the next week. The first is a shoot I'm particularly proud of. The subject is near and dear to my heart. Meet Val-Dron, my mother's 27 year old arabian horse. She wanted to make sure to get some really good photos of him, and he was the perfect subject - boy did he ham it up for the camera! We shot in late evening and the lighting was perfect for us. Unfortunately, where we shot was very large and we didn't want to turn him loose, and that is why you do not see any full body shots. We hope to get some here shortly before fall hits and his winter coat starts coming in.
